How to Buy the Right Tablet PC

Going out to buy a Tablet PC without knowing what you want from one or what you need it for, is like going out to battle without a game plan. You have to know ahead of time what it is you are looking for. Here are some tips that may help you:

 

·        Identify what kind of performance you want:  Your Tablet PC is determined by what you want from it. Here are some considerations:

o       Processor speed – How fast do you need it to go? Will a Tablet PC with a 1.2GHz processor be enough? The new ones usually come with 1.2GHz or 2 GHz processors.

o       Memory – What are your memory requirements? An average Tablet PC comes with 512MB to start with. Is this enough or will you need more.

o       Hard drive space – How big of a hard drive do you need? Most Tablet PCs come with 60GBs which is more than enough for the average user. However, if you work in a field where you need more space, you may need a hard drive with at least 160GB of capacity.

·        What features do you absolutely need: Above all else regarding your system, what about your Tablet PC you must have no matter what? Here are some features that you may need:

o       Lightweight – Are you an outdoor user? Do you use the Tablet PC in situations that require you to carry it around? If so, this would be a must for you.

o       DVD drive – In most cases a hard drive is enough. But if you are in profession that requires you to view videos or demos while at work or for showing your clients, you may want to include a DVD drive in your purchase.

o        Battery Life – The battery in Tablet PCs usually last about three to four hours. There are batteries that do last longer. If you are in the position where you need a battery for longer life, this may be the option you need.

·        Budget Constraints: What is your current budget? What can you afford? You don’t want to overboard and spend what you don’t have. There are some units that cost about $1000. So there are options out there.
