The first feature that makes a personal digital assistant a must-have for the modern, computer-age, on-the-go person is the ability to sync it with your computer. Your PDA should be able to sync with your calendar, email, contacts, and task list through Outlook on Windows computers or Entourage on a Mac device. Simply plug your PDA into your computer through a USB port and your personal digital assistant will charge its battery, as well as acquire any updated information from your computer or update your computer with information that has been acquired while away.
The second and third common features that will appear on your personal digital assistant are the calendar and task list. The calendar will be able to keep you up-to-date on doctor’s visits, business meetings, dinner plans, grandma’s birthday, and your anniversary. This calendar, as well as the reminder function, will save you from the embarrassment of forgetting something over the weekend. The task list will allow you to prioritize and complete your tasks while you are away from your office.
The fourth function that is common amongst most Personal Digital Assistants is the contact list. The contact list will provide you with addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and other information that you may need at the dinner party or while driving from one state to the next.
The final function that is common is the note taking or memo function. What used to be a napkin in a restaurant can now be written and stored more safely through the use of the memo function on a PDA.
