Knowing what to expect with custom-built computers is only half the battle. You also need to know how to look for a reliable company you can order the computer from. Each one will work differently. So you have to be knowledgeable and know what to look for. Here are some tips that may prove helpful to you.

·        The company’s reputation: Is the company you are looking to contact reputable? Just because they are listed on the Internet and in the Yellow Pages does not mean they are reliable or legit. It is better to check with the Better Business Bureau and check to make sure there are no complaints against the company.
·        Time frame for computer to be built: This extends from the point listed above under delays. As soon as you place your order and get the confirmation, how long does it take to get the PC delivered to your door? The average time is between two to three weeks.
·        Damage control: When the company ships your equipment to you, do they take precautions and make sure the equipment is protected during shipment. You wouldn’t want to wait till you get the computer, hit the power switch and find out the PC won’t boot up. A reliable company will make sure the PC is boxed according to shipping standards so it comes to you fully functional and ready to go.
·        The company’s return policy: What kind of policy does the company provide? If there is something wrong with the PC that requires extensive repairs, or even a replacement, will the computer dealer honor the return without question?
·        Warranty: What kind of warranty does the computer dealer give you at the time of purchase? You must be certain to get one. Or else if something happens to your PC, you will be stuck with a large repair bill.
