If you have just started your own business or are just looking for a computer in the home and money can prove to be issue, the choice in this situation is to strongly consider leasing your equipment.

Unlike purchasing equipment, it does have benefits and downsides, you can end up spending more each month than having the initial cash and buying outright but during the whole time the equipment is leased, if it goes wrong then as part of the contract, the company are obliged to rectify any problems.

Before deciding whether or not to lease computer equipment, always shop around for a good deal and as part of the price, you are going to need to remember interest will be added on for something you will never technically own. If you lease a lot of equipment then it may be best to ask if the company can offer a deal such as reducing the interest rate.

Always choose carefully because you don’t want to end up with equipment a few months down the line, you will end up detesting because with leasing, there is always a minimum standard contract.

With leasing equipment, you don’t want to do this for monetary reasons though because even if you can save money here, costs will rise elsewhere with interest rates etc being higher than average.

When deciding how you want to obtain computer equipment for your home or business it is vital that you way up the pros and cons associated with leasing before finalising your decision.

Pros:

• If any repairs are required then part of the leasing cost is for the company to honor all repairs
• As the price will be on a fixed contract, each monthly payment will be the same and will prove easier when doing your accounts
• Part if not all of the price can possibly be written off on your taxes
• If you have owned the equipment for some time then it may be possible to upgrade as technology is updated

Cons:

• You can potentially be paying more in interest rates and have to put down a deposit to secure the equipment
• You will never own the equipment, it is always owned by the leasing company

Never rush into choosing how you will get your new computer equipment, there are benefits behind leasing and buying and whilst leasing is the easier option most of the time, it will not be suitable for every business or home in the world.

Top Tip: Part of your decision is to remember that when purchasing office equipment, over time it will lose value and will eventually become so out of date, it will not have much use in a modern office and I find where possible leasing is the best option. With purchasing, you would need to update your equipment often to keep up to date with technology but with leasing this does not prove to be a problem because upgrades are usually part of the package. Ask when considering if this is a possibility.

If you search carefully though, there are companies that can offer such equipment despite your credit rating however, one thing they fail to mention initially is the interest rate will be higher than average.

Top Tip: If you do have a bad credit rating then getting computer equipment leases then it may not be as difficult as getting a loan for example. The reason for this, if the payment schedule is not adhered to then any equipment can be re-claimed by bailiffs, it can allow even people with the worst credit ratings to obtain equipment based on the above point.

Search the internet for the best deals possible, check the interest rates and once you have selected what equipment you would like, you can provided with an instant online quote based on your choices.

Once you receive your quote, most companies will allow you to take up the quote immediately and fill in all personal details online. All you need to do then is sit back, relax and wait for your important delivery.

Top Tip: When purchasing online, never buy from a company that appears to be a little bit shifty. If making a purchase, take note of all contact details and never buy from a company that just has an email address for contact. If you are unsure then don’t hesitate to ask because a fully reputable company will want to feel completely at ease on providing information before starting any transaction.

Do you have a computer that when first bought seemed like it ran lightening fast. You ran programs that loaded quickly and didn't hesitate for a second to work fast with each keystroke? The response rate for your computer was incredible. As soon as you started your computer, and you turned your back for a second, when you went back to look, the desktop was already showing. All your friends and family members envied you because you had such a fast computer. But then suddenly something happened. You started noticing your PC was slowing down. Everything it did fast before was now starting to go a little slower. What is causing this problem? What can you do to reverse and get your computer to speed up again? Before you take steps to undo the damage from what was causing the computer to become slow, here are some points you need to know that can cause the computer to become slow:

•	Spyware: This is sneaking software that gets downloaded to your computer without you knowing it. Spyware can infiltrate your system, log every step you take, and perform certain functions that will give the marketing knowledge of your habits so they will know what you do. This way they can focus their ads to you when you load up your browser.
•	Adware: Adware is like spyware, except it comes included with programs you may download. When you run the downloaded program, the adware also runs and installs itself. It then monitors your browser activity and presents ad related websites to your browser you did not expect.
•	Viruses: Viruses are one of the biggest problems for computers and for slowing down a system. Each virus is different in the way to works and acts on the PC. Some destroy hard drives while others do more damage than that. The bottom line is that viruses do cause problems.

If you have a computer that was lightening quick at one point but now is running slower than usual, this could be the result of several things. You could have spyware on your system. You could also have adware or a virus of some kind on your PC. Other reasons might be that your files are disorganized, or that you have software installed on your system that is consuming resources unnecessarily. Your PC could be using network drives that are slow to start up, or you could have drives that are not even used at all but are involved in the boot up process, or you could simply have way too many programs starting up automatically when you boot your computer.

One thing that many technicians have found when troubleshooting hard drives that run slow is the hard drive is in bad need of defragging. When a hard drive is fragmented this means that all the files on the hard drive are scattered all over the place. This slows down system performance and causes the programs to take longer to load and run. This is because when the program loads, the read/write head of the hard drive has to look for the section on the hard drive for all the pieces of the program that goes together. When a hard drive is defragmented, this forces all the programs that are on the hard drive to be placed in sequence so they can be found and loaded quickly.

There are many tools available that can help you to speed up your hard drive and make your computer run faster, even as fast as it did before. However, a word of warning - do not do anything until you backup your most important data first. When you are working with computer programs, anything is liable to happen. So protect yourself and your data by backing it up first. This way if you were to lose your information, you could easily get it back. Now let's talk about some of the tools you can use to help speed up your PC:

•	Clean hard drive: It is best to get rid of many programs you don't use anymore. You would be surprised to find how many programs that are installed on your PC that is not even necessary or important to have. You are wasting space and memory. To get rid of these programs just go to the Control Panel. Then click Add or Remove Programs. Once the window pops up, scroll through the list until you find the program you don't need or use. Click to highlight the program and click the Remove button. Then just follow the prompts that come up. You may need to reboot your PC at this point. Do so if suggested.
•	Wasted space cleaning: As soon as you get rid of those unwanted programs, you may find that there may be some residue left in those spaces. At this time it would be a good idea to run XP's Disk Cleanup tool. You can run this program by going to My computer. Then right-click on Local Disk. Click Properties. At the next screen, look for the General tab. Now click Disk Cleanup. Disk Cleanup will scan your hard drive and find any and all space that can be freed. Click on the check boxes of files you want to get rid of that is in the Files to Delete window. Once you have done this click OK.
•	Defrag your hard drive: One thing that can really slow down a PC is when the hard drive can become fragmented. This is when all the files on the hard drive are scattered every which way. In order to prevent this, you need to run the defrag program that XP provides. You do this by going to My Computer. Then select Local Disk with your right mouse button. Then click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Defragment Now. The Disk Defragmenter opens showing you a list of hard drives in your machine. Pick the hard drive you want defragged and click Defragment.
•	Remove Autostart programs: to help save on space and on memory when booting, get rid of those programs that start automatically on boot. You can get rid of these programs by clicking Start then click Run. Next you will type in Msconfig. Then either click or press Enter. When the window opens click the Startup tab. Here will be a list of programs that start when you boot the PC. Look at each item and remove the check so that program will not run. Click Apply and reboot your PC. You'll be surprised at how doing this will you're your PC boot faster and run quicker.
•	Clean out email inbox: Believe it or not, if you use Outlook Express and you keep all your old email, even deleted email is kept; this will eventually slow down your system. You see when you load Outlook Express for the first time, all your message folders get loaded in memory and stay there. This makes accessing the folders easier and faster. But if you have too many emails in there, that will take up a large chunk of memory. So every so often delete old email you don't want and clear your junk and deleted files folder as well.

There are steps you can take to prevent your computer from slowing down again after you fix the problems and get it running fast again. There are a few steps you can take to accomplish this task. Here are the steps that most technicians recommend:

•	Use a firewall: This is probably the best choice of all tips. If you use a firewall, it will help prevent unwanted programs from downloading to your computer without you knowing about it. You can enable Windows XP built-in firewall software to protect you, or you can buy third-party firewall protection software. The main thing is to get protected.
•	Update your software: If you use Windows XP, you can make sure to update your software. This way any urgent patches that will help stop unwanted programs can be downloaded and installed.
•	Adjust Internet Explorer's security settings: This is a big part of your protection. In order to stop pop-ups, adware, spyware, or viruses from attacking your computer, set your security settings of your browser to prevent such infiltration from occurring. Read XP's user manual. It explains how to do this.
•	Install anti-spyware and anti-virus programs: To add further protection, it would be good for you to install anti-spyware and anti-virus protection on your PC. This way you can be safeguarded from such attacks and intrusions.
