Not only is it very convenient, but it is also pretty sure to have everything that you need. However, the bookstore can also be quite expensive, especially as it comes time for the classes to start (though you can pay a little bit lower of a price if you look for the used books). If you’re looking for other options, they do exist.

Another easy way to find books is to go to another bookstore, one not operated by your school. Places like Barnes and Noble or Borders often sell the same textbooks that you need. Just take the ISBN with you when you go, along with any coupons you may have, since buying brand new textbooks can be expensive no matter where you go.

The third option for places to purchase textbooks is a huge one – online. This includes online bookstores like Amazon as well as places that you can buy used books – which can save you a ton of money. You can search these sites with the ISBN or the description, and you will probably find much better prices than you would at a bookstore of any kind, especially if you’re buying used. Be sure to calculate in shipping costs, and account for the time that it will take to get to you. If your class is getting ready to start, you may not have time to wait for the snail mail.

Another great option which many people overlook is the ability that you have to purchase textbooks from other students. Friends who have taken the class in recent years may be willing to sell you the books for a cheaper price than you would find it at a store, or they may even just let you borrow it. Just make sure that the edition they have is the same as the one being used in your class.
