As the capital of Chile, Santiago is truly a unique and diverse city. It inhabits possibly the most spectacular setting of any world capital, as it is surrounded by the full might of the Andean Mountain Range and is also very close to the Pacific Ocean. The climate of the city is wonderful as it is typically enveloped in a mild and warm Mediterranean climate.

There are over 5.8 million people who live within the city of Santiago. The city was founded by a small band of Spanish conquistadors led by Pedro de Valdivia on February 12, 1541. It became the capital of Chile in 1818, and today Santiago remains a significant financial center in South America. The city retains its unique charm after all these years and invites visitors to come and experience the city’s energetic markets, vibrant street life, and ancient 18th-century churches.
