Although the country of Chile has embraced modernization fully, there still remains some traditional customs, especially in the countryside. One example is the trilla a yegua, which consists of employing horses to help separate wheat from the chaff.
The island of Chiloé is known as Chile’s land of traditions and myths. Within the island, folklore is interspersed with stories of La Pincoya, the goddess of fertility, seas and beaches, and the Trauco, a disgusting dwarf that resides in the woods attacking men and seducing virgin women.
