St. Maarten is part of the 37-square-mile island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, which is the smallest land mass in the world that is divided between two governments. The island is roughly 150 miles east of Puerto Rico. The Dutch and the French are its dual owners, with St. Maarten being Dutch and St. Martin being French. The island has been shared for nearly 350 years, and the absence of conflict between the two sides makes St. Maarten/St. Martin a remarkably peaceful island.

Dutch St. Maarten is located on the southern part of the island, and its area is 16 square miles. The land is simply gorgeous, with miles of beaches, salt ponds, and lagoons overlooked by lush hills. It is a sophisticated area with West-Indian traditions and culture. Known for its diverse and spirited night life, Dutch St. Maarten also offers many fun activities during the day, including diving, fishing, boating, horseback riding, biking, and exploration. Guests who are in the mood for luxury have several world-class resorts and private guest houses to choose from.

No matter where you stay or how you spend your time, your stay on St. Maarten will be filled with relaxation, laughter, and fun.
