Day Seven: Sao Paulo

Spend your last day in Sao Paulo exploring Jardim Botanico. These Botanical Gardens feature nearly 3,000 plants belonging to over 340 native species. The greenhouse on location contains an orchid house, an assortment of aquatic plants, and Atlantic rain-forest species.

In the afternoon, visit Ibirapuera Park, Sao Paulo’s primary public park. This enormous, urban park in Sao Paulo is the equivalent to what Central Park is to New York City. Those who draw near the park from the Northwest will observe the notable Bandeiras monument, a tribute to Brazil’s first settlers. The park is very scenic as it winds through ponds, lawns, and gardens. This is the best place to enjoy a run in the city, and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon relaxing. The lake provides a calming presence to the weary traveler after an exciting week. Make sure you stop in at the planetarium, as it is what makes the park unique.
