San Conrado is one of Rio’s most scenic neighborhoods with its posh buildings along the beach, an impeccable golf green, hand-gliders decorating the sky and even a billionaire strip. The beach is gorgeous, but often unsuitable for swimming. You will need a taxi or car to travel around.
Framed by a gorgeous beachfront to the south and the towering peak of Pedra Bonito to the west, the Intercontinental has hundreds of rooms and excellent facilities. The restaurants are excellent and if you never want to leave the hotel, the Intercontinental is the place to stay. The Intercontinental is close to Rio’s glitziest mall, the Sao Conrado Fashion Mall. Rooms at the Intercontinental range from $90 to $120 per night.
The massive 559 room Sheraton is Rio’s best resort hotel. This hotel has its own small beach, which is nearly private. The rooms are nicely furnished in a cozy, contemporary style and you can enjoy the tennis courts, several swimming pools, a health club, several good restaurants and a nonsmoking floor. The Sheraton is considered the top choice with business executives. Rooms at the Sheraton range from $140 to $200 per night.
