To the average person, a ski boat is anything that has a ski eye or a telescoping tow bar mounted to the transom. But, for water-skiers who are passionate about water-skiing, there's more to a ski boat.

Throughout most of its 43-year history, the dedicated inboard ski boat has focused squarely on ardent water-skiers. In the past decade that notion has changed. Eager to cater to a larger audience, ski boat builders are incorporating more mainstream boating ideas.

Today, there are three types of inboard ski boats: (1) closed-bow direct-drive models, (2) open-bow drive models. Within the boating world, there are many sub-cultures and many water ski boats.
