To be fair, the aren't many things that do go well with drinking.

Through the hard work of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Canada Safety Council, community activists and the police, society now understands that impaired driving is extremely dangerous.

Through a campaign of public awareness, RIDE programs, and punitive deterrents, the drinking/driving culture of Ontarians has changed. Impaired driving is on the decline. The message has been clear -- if you drink, don't drive.

The result has been that thousands of lives have been saved. But there is another alcohol-related issue that has been ignored for far too long.

Every boating season, lives are lost and people are injured in preventable incidents involving alcohol and boating. We have to get the message out that alcohol and boating is just as dangerous as operating a car under the influence of alcohol.
