On an entirely different level, adorable clothes make the parent smile and marvel at this wonderful, little new person. Special outfits may be family heirlooms, such as christening gowns, or later serve as reminders of the day your little one gave you his or her first real smile, or cut a first tooth. The formal name for a newborn's baby wardrobe is a layette. This includes not only clothing, but bedding as well.
