At first glance, prices of baby clothes might not seem that bad. But when you really consider how much clothing babies need (so that you are not washing clothes all the time), and how brief an amount of time they will wear certain items of clothing, it can really be expensive. There are several ways to ease the expense of clothing your baby. First of all, request clothes as baby shower gifts. And more specifically, request clothing beyond the newborn sizes. One new mom asked for outfits from size six months to three years for her newborn daughter. Nearly four years later, the mother and daughter were still enjoying gifts from the baby shower! When you register for clothes at department stores, don't automatically chose the cheapest items. Higher priced clothes are often made out of better cottons and therefore last much longer. This is really important if you think you will have more than child. Unisex colors are a good choice as well for certain things like sleep wear and blankets. Many times, family members and friends pass down clothes to the younger children. Again, quality clothes tend to last longer. Two year old Elizabeth, for example, is wearing beautiful dresses that were worn by cousins Sarah, Mary Margaret, Mary Madden, and sister Lillian Jane. Hopefully they will be enjoyed by cousin Libby and who knows who else!
