Baby showers are a wonderful time to be creative and really consider, "what would make the time most meaningful for the mother-to-be?" As mentioned earlier, couples' showers are growing in popularity and are often dinner parties and cookouts without the games or traditional baby-themed decorations. Some mothers might love a special lunch or day at the spa. Gift-giving can be enjoyed in many locations! Perhaps the mother-to-be already has several children and doesn't need many items for her new arrival. Consider a very special "group" gift that the child could cherish later on, such as a gift certificate for a portrait with a well-known artist. Some mothers may opt for something very practical, such as the gift of having someone hired to clean her house after the baby arrives or even meals catered or provided by friends.
