Books and websites abound in ideas for games at baby showers. Traditional games include the following:

• The game in which every guest is given a certain number of colorful diaper pins that she is instructed to attach to her clothing. A specific word, like "baby" or even the name that the baby will be given, if known, is the "forbidden" word during the duration of the shower. Those caught saying the word must relinquish a diaper pin to the guest that catches them saying the word. The person with the most diaper pins at the end of the event wins a prize, like a nice bottle of hand lotion or a box of chocolates.
• Another game is consists of guests either being blindfolded or having one hand tied behind the back with the instructions of putting a diaper on a baby doll or stuffed animal. The person who completes the task in the fastest time wins a prize.
• Many games involve suggesting names for the baby if a name has not been selected or disclosed. For example, one mother-to-be wanted to use a Hispanic name to honor her Latin American heritage. Guests were given a couple of minutes to write down as many male names of Hispanic origin beginning with each letter of the alphabet. The person with the most names won a prize, and the mother-to-be left the party with many great ideas for naming her child.
