What you include in your emergency kit depends on how much you want to prepare for. The most extensive roadside kit should include the following items. You can choose where to take shortcuts if you don't want to pack the whole list.

A complete kit should include the following items packed in a large nylon bag:

• 12-foot jumper cables made of heavy duty, 10-gauge rubber insulated copper
• Four 15-minute roadside flares
• Two quarts of oil
• Gallon of antifreeze
• First aid kit (including an assortment of bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, antiseptic cream, instant ice and heat compresses, scissors and aspirin)
• Solar Blanket - This 84" x 52" waterproof blanket retains 90% of your body heat. Great for ground cover or shielding from the sun's heat. Can also be used as protection from rain.
• Extra fuses
• Flashlight and extra batteries
• Flat head screwdrivers
• Phillips head screwdrivers
• Pliers
• Vise Grips
• Adjustable wrench
• Tire inflator (such as a Fix-A-Flat)
• Tire pressure gauge
• Rags
• Roll of paper towels
• Roll of duct tape
• Spray bottle with washer fluid
• Pocketknife
• Ice scraper
• Fire Suppressor & Extinguisher (5-B:C Rated, Applicable to automotive fires from flammable liquids, gasoline and electrical)
• Pen and paper
• Help sign
• Granola or energy bars
• Bottled water - A 4.2 oz. pouch of water is perfect for personal use or adding water in your battery.
• 20 ft Tow Strap - The longer tow strap, will give you enough space between vehicles, allowing enough time to brake when the leading vehicle stops.
• The Nylon Bag should have extra room for other personal items you might want to carry as well.
