Hybrid cars are gas-electric cars that run by using both gasoline and electricity. Hybrids are a combination of electric cars and gas cars and they have become extremely sought after over the last few years. The technology behind hybrids is constantly being advanced and many experts predict that hybrids could eventually replace gasoline powered cars. The main purpose behind a hybrid car is to combine the electric and gas functions of the car to cut down on fuel emissions produced by gasoline cars while at the same time allowing the car to get better mileage. The average gas automobile can drive at least 300 miles between re-fueling but gets very low gas mileage and produces high levels of pollution while the average electric car produces practically no pollution but can only go 50 to 100 miles before needing to be charged. So a hybrid car offers an automobile that takes those two systems and makes them into one car.
