Do fuel injectors work alone?

Fuel injectors would be not nearly the aid that they are in improving efficiency, power and lower emissions if they were not guided by a number of sensors that determine the precise amounts of fuel that must be delivered to the engine at any given moment. Some of these include the mass airflow sensor, the oxygen sensor (which may be also called the EGO sensor), the throttle position sensor, the manifold absolute pressure sensor, the coolant temperature sensor, the engine speed sensor, and the voltage sensor. When these sensors are making all their calculations, the factors that determine their calculations include the weather (especially if it is cold), whether the vehicle is accelerating, decelerating, idling or even just starting, and how much load or passengers the vehicle is carrying. Believe it or not, all of these factors affect how much fuel the engine needs. The engine control unit reads all of these sensors and makes the final determination of how much fuel to inject in the engine.
