From the end of November until Christmas day, nearly all Austrian cities will have “Christkindlmärkte" – little huts in which you can purchase Christmas presents, food, wine, and hot punch. The larger cities – like Vienna – are especially known for their markets. Here are some of the traditional Christmas markets that you can find in Austria’s capital if you are visiting Austria during Christmas.

• Rathausplatz. This is the class Christmas Market, located right in front of the City Hall. If you’re spending your week vacation nearby, you can stroll through the town and park, enjoying the intricately decorated trees and buildings as well as the Christmas atmosphere. There are many opportunities for souvenirs and photos.
• SchÖnbrunn Castle. With the same Christmas spirit and elaborate decorations, this village market also offers things like mulled wine and ginger bread. Plus, you can enjoy festive concerts each day.
• Spittelberg. This is the most authentic Christmas market in Vienna and is a great place not only for entertainment but especially for Christmas shopping. With traditional and original handmade crafts being sold in the historic alleyways and courtyards, Spittelberg is a wonderful place to take pleasure in Christkindlmärkte.
