Because of Austria’s extensive and exciting past, it is known for many historic places, including the former residences of famous Austrians, historical monuments, religious symbols, and more. If you’re traveling through Austria and are looking for places to visit, these opportunities can be both fun and educational. Here are some examples of the possibilities that await you:

• Palaces. Schonbrunn Palace, Imperial Palace, and Belvedere Palace in Vienna; Mirabell Palace and Gardens in Salzburg; and Imperial Palace in Innsbruck.
• Castles. Salzburg Fortress in Salzburg, Scholl Eggenberg and Ruine Gosting in Graz, and Schloss Ambras in Innsbruck.
