Queensland is a large state in terms of land volume. There are several towns and cities that make up the state and some of those have become large tourist attractions. Listed below are a few of the towns and cities of interest located in Queensland:

• Brisbane: As the capitol city of Queensland Brisbane is the largest populated city in the state with just over 1.8 million residents. The city lies on the shores of Moreton Bay and has a tropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The city is made up of an international mix of residents. Brisbane is home to several universities and colleges as well as shopping centers, restaurants, cafes, and many tourist destinations. The city has a growing economy and has the fastest growing white collar employment rate in Australia.
• Gold Coast: This beachside town has become a real hot spot for tourists. Gold Coast is the second largest city in Queensland as well as the 7th largest in the country. The city is home to the most beautiful beaches in Australia and draws in large crowds each year to the city. The city also offers several golf courses, restaurants, shopping, horse race track, first class hotels, sports facilities, and several other tourist attractions.
• Sunshine Coast: The Sunshine Coast actually includes 3 cities in Queensland Noosa, Maroochy Shire, and Caloundra. The area is made up of beautiful beaches and farm land where fruits and nuts are grown. The Sunshine Coast area is very popular with tourists due to the warm weather and beautiful scenery. Major tourist attractions located in the area include Steve Irwin’s Australian Zoo, Underwater World, Aussie World, and Buderim Ginger Factory.
• Cairns: Cairns is located on the coast of the Coral Sea and is a popular destination or Australians as well as international travelers. The city offers culture, fine dining, beaches, shopping, and even a casino.
