1) Golf is a major sport in the Austin area so if you enjoy “playing a few holes” then you will find a large array of great courses scattered throughout the region but one the best public courses to visit is the Bluebonnet Hill Golf Club and Range found of Decker Ln. This 18 hole course has been built on rolling terrain (for that extra challenge) and you can enjoy a day of fun with the family for a green fee charge of just under $20.

2) If you prefer a holiday where you can learn something whilst having fun then pay a visit to the Austin Nature and Science center. The center is located on the western edge of Zilker Park and it is completely dedicated to exploring the natural world. Open since 1960 there is plenty to do for all ages and activities are varied and the center has been a major choice for educational trips. Upon your arrival you will have the chance to meet a coyote and red tailed hawk in the Wildlife Exhibits where you can see the animals being fed and cleaned and apart from this you will see a further selection of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish. After this then you must stop at the Dino Pit, the Hartman Prehistoric Garden (found in Zilker Botanical Gardens) features plants which were common 140 – 127 million years ago, casts of dinosaur tracks are also on show that were found on the site in 1992 and other exhibits include the main history on the dinosaurs such as what species of dinosaurs once lived on the planet and the time of their reign, fossils of dinosaurs that have been found over the last few decades and a vast selection of various gems and minerals from across the globe. The center is open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm – 5pm on Sunday’s.

3) Austin is not all shops and tall buildings, its extreme beauty is visible when you take part in certain activities and I recommend you take a trip to Mt. Bonnell. Mount Bonnell has been listed as one of Austin’s oldest tourist attractions – dating back to around 1850. It is a great place to have a picnic in the sun and you can enjoy views such as the Town Lake or the 360 Bridge. You can find the area just a short walk from the road and visiting the area is an ideal choice for whole families and as Mt. Bonnell is well known as one of the most romantic locations; couples too can enjoy the beautiful views.

4) Wimberley has been given the name as one of “America’s Top Places to visit” by many published travel guides and it is highly recommended that you visit this “tropical” getaway if you can. Located just 45 minutes southwest of Texas you will find Wimberley situated along Cypress Creek and the Blanco River. Due to the area’s extreme beauty, it attracts many artists that choose to live and work in the area and this will be one of the biggest focal points for their work. There are many activities that you can take part in when you arrive which can range from horseback riding, canoeing, rafting, hiking or if you would prefer then you could always choose to have a guided tour of the area. Throughout the year, there are many local festivals that offer an array of live music which does prove to be enjoyed by locals and tourists alike and with a slow pace and friendly people; this is an area where you will never hesitate to visit.

5) If you want to see Austin in a completely different light and you have nerves of steel then why not take part in the Austin Ghost Tour. Throughout the trip you will have a guide on hand at all times and you have a choice of tours.
