Not all types of wood and material are suitable for burning. Do not burn on:

• Pressure or any other “treated” timber, including Medium Density Fiber (MDF) board, because of the chemicals used in their treatment and/or composition
• Metal or chrome treated leather
• Plastics
• Diamond Willow or other spalted woods, which are known to cause respiratory problems in some people
• Wood that has had a finish added to it, such as a varnish (thoroughly sand all the finish off the wood first)
