1. Exercise care when using burning tips, as they are sharp and very hot, and will burn skin and flesh easier than wood.
2. Do not leave woodburning equipment unattended. Be sure to turn the equipment off when you leave the room.
3. Keep equipment out of the reach of children.
4. Keep your work area neat and clean. Do not wear flammable fabric and keep flammable materials away from your workspace to avoid accidents.
5. Always work in a well ventilated space, to prevent the inhalation of fumes and smoke.
6. If you sand your wood before burning, be sure to wear a dusk mask.
7. If you notice any strange respiratory or skin reactions while working with the wood, stop what you are doing, have your wood tested, and visit your doctor. Some people have allergic reaction to certain wood species or chemical treatments.
