Day One: Begin your vacation by checking in to the majestic Arlington Hotel. This hotel with twin domed towers is situated on Central Avenue in Hot Springs' downtown historic district. The healing waters that led to the creation of the Hot Springs National Park are available in 50 of the Arlington's 484 guestrooms, in the hotel's bathhouse, and in a mountainside hot tub. Thermal whirlpool baths, saunas, spa treatments and massages are among the luxuries offered in the Arlington’s bathhouse. The Arlington Hotel also offers the Fountain Room Grill, the Venetian Dining Room and the Lobby Café restaurants, a shopping mall, twin cascading swimming pools, and a colorfully decorated lobby and bar. Visitors can choose from a variety of rooms to suit their particular needs. After getting situated, take a stroll down Hot Springs’ historic Bathhouse Row. Here visitors can tour the famous ornate bathhouses where visitors have been coming for many years to experience the unique thermal waters. Day 2: After breakfast at the Arlington Hotel’s Venetian Dining Room, take in a thoroughbred horse race at Oaklawn Park. Next, tour through Hot Spring’s Garvan Woodland Gardens, Arkansas' premiere botanical garden. The Garden features a Welcome Center, Outer Space Gift Shop, a four-acre Asian rock and stream garden, the Full Moon Bridge, Verna C. Garvan Pavilion designed by E. Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings, 20-foot tall Canopy Bridge, waterfalls, springs, cascading streams, Japanese Maple Hill, Border of Old Roses, ADA accessible paved trails and hundreds of thousands of plantings. Spend the evening at one of Hot Springs many restaurants enjoying cuisines from around the world.
Day 3: Today, pick up a picnic lunch at one of the local cafés and explore one of the area’s beautiful Diamond Lakes. Activities include hiking on one of the maintained trails, water sports, trout or bass fishing, or touring the lakes with the National Park Duck Tours. In the afternoon, take some time to check out Hot Springs’ numerous antique shops. Sell, trade, get appraisals, or just window shop. If golfing is your thing, play a round or two at one of the areas courses. DeGray Lake Resort, which is only a 30 minute drive from downtown Hot Springs, houses a 7,200 yard, 18 hole, public PGA championship rated golf course that includes a driving range and a practice range. The Pro Shop offers refreshments and shopping.
