The 1800’s brought growth to the Phoenix area thanks to the railroad. As with other cities and town in the Midwest the railroad helped to established Phoenix as a center for trading. It became much easier to import and export goods by way of the railroad rather than by wagon. In 1888 the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce was established which helped manage the growth to the area.
