• The Cathedral Metropolitana (found in the San Martin area) was built in 1827 and has a mixture of several different architectural styles, it has been through many years of history and famous General Jose de San Martin is laid to rest here, he was known as a great leader who fought in many of the wars that once plagued the area. You may find it hard to find the Cathedral because despite its history and age, it looks like a modern art deco building until you get inside. It is a prime example of true Argentinean sense of style. This is one trip out that will apply to people of all tastes because whilst some visit for the history behind this old cathedral, some visit just to see the wondrous architecture that has been applied to the building.

The best Andalusian restaurant you will come across is Al Andalus which you will find in the Palermo area of Buenos Aires. There is a wide selection to choose from so you may be there for some time trying to make a selection. You can relax in the great dining room which seems like home with sofas scattered everywhere with them covered with beautiful Moroccan rugs and you will see a great tiled fountain within the courtyard which is surrounded by many plants. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday but every other day it is open until late.

Two of the more popular choices are the lamb tagine (dark stew cooked with plums and almonds) and Pastel Andalusi (sweet and sour filo stuffed with lamb and chicken. If you have room after a large main course then you must try the torta Antigua (chocolate cake) and whilst it may not seem very foreign it is outstanding and very tasty. For a main course in the restaurant you can expect to spend anything between 8 and 25 pesos which is good value for money for a traditional meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Reservations are recommended because it is a popular choice with many visitors and you don’t want to end up disappointed, you can reach the Al Andalus on 11-4832-9286.
