Located in the San Telmo area of Buenos Aires, it has been noted as one of the oldest neighbourhoods throughout the region and up until the late 19th century, it was an area for the wealthiest of residents so you can be certain that there are magnificent buildings. It is worth taking up some of the traditional architecture that has been displayed here because like everything else in Argentina, locals have taken pride in erecting outstanding buildings and apart from this, you will find a good range of restaurants and cafes to visit after a day of sightseeing.

Residents of Buenos Aires are very proud of fine art and what has been created whether it is a local or international artist it is worth paying a visit to the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires. Open from 12 noon to 8pm, it offers a wide insight into the history of the earliest Spanish/American area and how it has changed over the centuries. Admission is free and if you want to see how a typical piece of Latin American art takes centre stage then I strongly recommend a visit. There are workshops within the museum and with children’s activities and temporary exhibitions; it is a treat for all.

It is important for many holidaymakers to take home a piece of the rich and varied history that plagues the nation and by visiting the San Pedro Telmo fair (known as the "Feria de Antiguedades de San Telmo") it is held every Sunday from about 10am to 5pm you can choose from a choice of crafts and artwork that has been created by many of the local and talented artists in the area.

For those individuals that visit the area and want to see everything that Buenos Aires has to offer then I strongly suggest taking part in the tour that covers all areas of historical importance and proves educational yet fun. The day tour begins at the government National Congress building and Mayo Square and this leads onto seeing the Cathedral and the Cabildo. Make sure you have a camera handy because this is not all, you will have sights of the most famous opera house in South America and visiting historic areas like La Boca where the first Italian immigrants settled. One of the best parts of the trip for many is the stop off at Recoleta, the area has many excellent restaurants and boutiques and it is here that you will get to see the famous cemetery where the likes of Eva Peron are buried. For $12 this is excellent value for money because you are getting to see exactly what makes Buenos Aires great and what secured its status as a major tourist community today.

Throughout the year, there are a number of activities that occur on an annual basis and many holidaymakers and locals alike turn out to such events. In October, you will see a week long World Tango Festival held in the “Capitol of Tango” and this features nightly celebrations along with the opportunity to learn this well known and popular dance during your holiday.
