There are two emblematic music styles of Argentina, characterizing two different regions. The first, the tango, is more symbolic of Buenos Aires and became the country’s music icon abroad. The tango is quite possibly the best representation of the culture of Argentina. The tango is a dance and music that has captivated the hearts of romantics all around the world. The second, so-called folklore, better symbolizes the rest of the country of Argentina. Folk music is flourishing in Argentina’s culture with popular artists such as Los Nocheros, Mercedes Sosa, Soledad, and many others. There are some other music styles that began in the inner country of Argentina that are becoming more popular today such as Cuarteto and cumbia. In addition, Buenos Aires has more non-traditional styles such as pop and rock, which is symbolized by such popular artists as Luis Alberto Spinetta, Diego Torres, Charly Garcia, and many others.
