Argentina’s extended geography creates a diverse climate within the country. The climate is primarily temperate in the central region with extremes varying from subtropical in the north, with rain throughout the year, to arid/sub-Antarctic in the far south. The central region of Argentina can be hot and humid in the summer while it is cool in the winter. The best time to visit the north is between May and September when the humidity and heat is less stifling. The best time to visit the south is during the summer months of December to February. The ocean functions as a thermal regulator in the majority of Argentina’s coastal cities so that there is a minimal differentiation between the maximum and minimum temperatures. This is especially true of the city of Buenos Aires.

Argentina, along with the other South American countries found below the equatorial line, the winter season lasts from July to October while the summer stretches from December to March. If traveling to Argentina during the winter, it is suggested to visit the north and northeastern regions as the winter has shorter days and is cold and rainy. In the summer it is suggested that visitors head south to Patagonia or the southern Andes. However, many recommend that spring and fall is the absolute best time to visit the country of Argentina, as the weather is fairly warm during these months.
