Alabama, also known as the “Heart of Dixie,” has a rich historic background and diverse geography from Cheaha Mountain (2407 ft) to the East Gulf Coastal Plain and the swamps and bayous of the Mobile River Delta. What was once the land of the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, and Chickasaw Indians and then home to the Spanish, French, and English pioneers eventually became the place for space exploration. Alabama’s rich landscape includes the beautiful gulf waters, lakes, rivers, mountains, and caverns.
