"I can't wait to get to the campsite to get something to eat." This statement is heard on almost every single camping trip that I have been on, most of the times that statement is coming out of my own mouth - but it is said nonetheless. Now whether you are coming back from a day-long white water rapid trip, showing up at an organization's bonfire, or just waking up out of your tent from your night's sleep - the first thought on your mind might be what you are going to have to eat. While most people think of hot dogs on sticks as the customary meal for camping, for any person staying for more than one night they may need to get a little bit more creative in their cooking so that they can eat something else.

The first thing you need to know for Camp cooking is to prepare. While you don't have to have what each meal is going to be every single day and meal (you have to leave some room for being spontaneous) it might be a good idea to at least have the different meals laid out. For instance you don't need to know you are having hot dogs on for your third lunch, but just that you are going to have hot dogs sometime while you are there. Once you are past that you need to know some things. The first is what do you need to cook this food with - while there is certain foods that call for a specific instrument (like you can't have fried turkey without a turkey fryer) some of the foods allow for you to use the same utensils for multiple meals. The next area of campsite cooking is breakfast meals. The one after is the selections of lunch and dinner while at the campsites. Then the final question is the all-important snacks - while s'mores might be favorite of campers, kids and adults alike, there are many different opportunities to put on some weight at the campsite.
