Kikar Lodge, India's first private forest reserve located at the foothills of Shivalik, near wetlands of Ropar, is a two-hour drive from Ludhiana.
This natural retreat, which was inaugrated by CM Caption Amrinder Singh last November, already had many visitors from the industrial families of Ludhiana.
Talking to Newsline, Amrinder Singh Chopra, MD of the lodge, said: "My private forest reserve is spread over 1,800 acres, where we have been doing agro-forestry for over 25 years, cutting trees for timber and growing them in a cycle. But I thought of giving it a different value and so made this lodge on 4 acres of land. The rest of the forest is open for all to visit and enjoy."
Night safaris in India, huh? Just as long as that Rikki Tikki Tavi fellow comes along, it's all good with me.
